WHY WE OFFER P.L.C. COURSES

It’s late June, Mark leaves the school exam hall for the last time. “This Leaving Certificate is your ticket”, he remembers being told. As he walks through the gates he looks back at the school and realises there is nothing to nurture him anymore. Then he looks ahead down the road which leads to the town and realises there is nothing to nurture him there either.

Lots of questions are passing through Marks mind, lots of questions and one answer. Printed in big bold type at the bus stop is a sign that reads “PLC – COURSES FOR EVERYONE”.

Mark takes down the number and calls the next day for a list of courses to enrol in. Mark looks back at the school and realises there is something special right there to nurture him, then he looks ahead down the road and realises there is a future right here.

Post Leaving Certificate courses provide the necessary bridge between second level and third level education. This bridge can be solid and extremely supportive to those individuals wishing to cross. Job cuts, job losses and economic failure can wreak havoc on a community. PLC courses provide hope, optimism and a sense of movement for every community.
