Parent angst!

1 The Primary school perspective (My child was never like that in Primary School).
2 Influences in new school.

School Expectations

1 Uniform code.
2 School lockers and school maintains the right to spot check.
3 Students are not allowed off campus.
4 Use journal to write all notes of absence, lateness, uniform problems etc. (Even if you contact school by phone).

School Undertakings

1 Calendar will be available at start of year by notice and internet.
2 Four school reports a year: October/Christmas/March/Summer.
3 First Year P/T meeting will take place during first term.
4 Catering will be provided on campus.
5 There will be financial requests, but they will be kept to an absolute minimum.
6 The school is committed to mixed ability and all subjects are taught to higher level.

School Expenses

1 School expenses for the year will be €80 and this will cover:

2 School uniform (including compulsory school jacket, tracksuit).

3 Booklists will be posted early June with the name of the class your child is in. Booklists will be also be posted on the internet (www.phcol.ie). There will be a concerted effort to avoid changing textbooks

School Transport

1 Any student living 4.8km away from school is entitled to school transportation. Forms when completed must be signed by the Principal and then returned to transport liaison office.
2 Generally students living in the following areas, with some exceptions should apply: Caragh, Sallins, Kill, Eadestown, Johnstown.
3 For students living in the immediate vicinity of Naas including Monread, the Clane link will have stops at Morrell, Hennessy’s garage, the Post Office and Swans in Fairgreen and Piper’s Hill College.

Other ways to access school

1 There is a one way system to facilitate dropping off students by car.
2 There is provision for 300 secure bicycle parking bays with CCTV surveillance.
3 School will be open from 08:00am each morning. Should parents/students abuse this facility, the Principal reserves the right to withdraw the facility.

PIPER’S HILL SCHOLARSHIP

1 Applicants will be invited to sit a Maths, English and Irish exams.
2 Applicants must achieve 85% average in the exam overall.
2 School trips (including international trips), schoolbooks are covered
4 Commitment to higher level in all subjects throughout every year.
5 Closing date is 15th May.

FORMS

1 Mobile phones, MP3s, IPODs are all banned and when confiscated will be held for two months without exception! Policy needs to be signed or will be collected on first day back.
2 Contact form.
3 Transport form.
4 Code of conduct form.
5 Book rental/grant form.
6 Scholarship form.

OPTION LIST 2010

Students need to select in order of preference (1,2,3,4,5) from each line.

OPTIONS CONSIDERATIONS

1 Closing date is 21/4/2010 at 5pm.
2 It may not be possible to change the choice of options at a later stage. If it is possible it may lead to a change of base class.
3 Parents will be notified of class and options in early June.

UNIFORM SUPPLIERS

Grant’s Uniform suppliers will be in the school to measure and supply students on:

1 Tuesday 8th June (10-1pm)
2 Saturday 19th June ( 10-4pm)
