Letter to 6th Years Parents

Dear Parents/Guardians and 6th year students,

We received the attached document from The State Examinations Commission last night.
It contains the most up to date information regarding the LC 2021.
There are still a lot of gaps and detailed information to come but we will share it with you as we receive it.
The main points for you to note are:
The completion dates for coursework, projects, LCVP portfolios.
Dates and plans for orals and practicals.

It explains how the self service portal will work. It opens on 10th March and closes on the 16th. Students will require the exam numbers they received in school on Wednesday and their PPS number in order to register.
Once registered, we recommend all students should opt for Accredited Grades. You could also register for all written exams and will have an opportunity to change your minds when the portal reopens at the end of April. However, please note if you register for a written exam you will have to do the practical element, coursework and orals.
Also, while you can withdraw from taking a written exam at the end of April the only opportunity to register for them is now, up to the 16th of March.
At this point you should confirm your subjects and levels, and additional subjects you are taking and remove subjects you are no longer doing.
Students taking written papers will need to be available to do orals in Irish and MEL and Music practicals over the Easter holidays.
It is likely the LCVP exam will take place on a Saturday in May.
If a RACE application was made successfully on your behalf it will apply to your Accredited Grade and written exam.
There is quite a lot of information coming your way currently. In the short term priority should be given to completing LCVP Portfolios and to register through the online portal between the 10th and 16th of March.
Don't panic if you can't register on the 10th as there is likely to be huge traffic on the site initially. You will have plenty of time to register up to the 16th.
We will continue to share information with you as we receive it.
We thank you for your engagement with us since you returned last Monday. We are genuinely delighted to have all of you back in school and will continue to do our very best for you in the weeks and months ahead.
Kind regards,
Caroline Herity
