LGBTI+ Ally Club and Annual Stand Up for LGBTI+ Week
In 2018, Piper’s Hill College held its first ever BeLonGTo Stand Up for LGBTI+ Week which created awareness of LGBTI+ issues and was an opportunity to offer support and friendship to all students. We have continued this tradition, and in November every year the school celebrates our LGBTI+ students and encourages all students to be an ally to their LGBTI+ friends and classmates. This week involves a number of fun and informative events and activities, and Piper’s Hill College is rainbow coloured for the week!
One very important thing that came out of Stand Up Week was the Piper’s Hill College LGBTI+ Ally Club. Once a month students meet up as a group and are given the opportunity to talk to each other, make new friends and give support to one another. This is a fun, informal group that offers a support system to all students.
Piper’s Hill College is one of only 21 schools nationally chosen to take part in the LGBT Safe & Supportive Schools Project. The aim of this programme is to create a safe and supportive environment where students feel comfortable to be who they are, without the fear of homophobic bullying. Piper’s Hill College endeavors to be a school that is supportive and inclusive of all.
