Music Generation 2024/25

Music Generation 2024/25
Music Generation is a national music education programme whose mission is to empower children and young people to realise their full potential through access to, and participation in, high quality performance music education. We are very lucky here in Piper's Hill College to be working in partnership with Music Generation Kildare to offer our students a wonderful range of opportunities including instrumental lessons, songwriting modules, choral workshops, and live performances.
Currently, we offer small group lessons in singing, guitar, keyboard, bass and drum lessons to students from all years and with all levels of musical experience. Once a month, students from each vocal/instrumental group gather together to perform a pop song, this is an invaluable experience to work within an ensemble and to meet with and learn from peers. We also offer a songwriting module to TY students who are interested in self-expression and finding their own voice. Lessons are engaging, inclusive and provide students with a chance to learn from highly skilled, professional musicians. Students also benefit from Music Generation's instrumental rental scheme, with the option of renting or purchasing an instrument for a small weekly fee.
Through Music Generation Kildare, students also have access to a range of performing opportunities such as the SubSounds Music Festival and Cruinniú na nÓg, and have the chance to meet other young musicians from local schools through the Teen Spirit programme. Our school choir and musical cast have also had vocal workshops with world-renowned opera singer Sharon McCarthy.
Interested students are welcome to enroll with the music department every September to partake in this excellent programme.
