*Unfortunately, due to the current Public Health Situation, The School Library is temporarily closed*

Piper’s Hill College Library first opened in October 2014. It is managed entirely by volunteer librarians from the parent body.

The library is open every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday over lunchtime to all students and staff. It is free of charge.

We aim to provide a welcoming and open environment that encourages students to read more. We also help students to become familiar with the various functions of a library with a view to benefit their further education (3rd level).
The library caters for all levels of literacy and every taste. Thanks to the support from the Naas Community Library, we can offer students a wide range of teen and young adult fiction as well as graphic novels (comics), but also a great selection of non-fiction from areas such as sports, history, travel, biography, hobbies, crafts etc.

All 1st year students get an introduction to the library in September/October.

The library offers a sanctuary for those students who wish to escape the hustle and bustle of a busy school and enjoy some peace and quiet in the company of a book. Here, the emphasis is on reading, as there are many other attractive activities on offer over lunchtime for students who prefer to socialise. Quiet and good behaviour are expected from all visitors and school rules apply.

Regular visitors to the library are encouraged to apply for a library membership card. The Piper’s Hill Library card will automatically give students access to Naas Community Library as well as any public library in County Kildare and beyond.
The contact details of each student need to be authorised by parents/guardians and verified by the school. Kildare Library & Arts Services and the school hold them.
The full rules of use for Piper’s Hill Library are available from the school library.

Our volunteer librarians are working in small teams on a once-a-week basis. Parents, who are interested to become volunteer librarians, can contact us by email on phcollegelibrary@gmail.com or via the school office. No prior experience is needed and training will be given. All volunteers have to consent to be fully Gardaí vetted.

Book donations to the library are welcome, provided they are suitable and appropriate for students and in good condition. We no longer accept multi-volume reference works (encyclopaedia), as most students in Piper’s Hill have access to a variety of online reference works via their iPad. If you wish to donate books to the school library, please contact us via email with a short description and we can arrange for a librarian to be present to receive the books.

We look forward to welcome you at Piper’s Hill College Library!
